Brief | The scheme is divided into two parts, the urban planning and architectural design. The site is located in the capital of Finland, Helsinki. Compared with other European metropolis, Helsinki is quite young.However, with the development of city, the south harbor which used to be the transportation core of whole city, has already lost its significant position in the transportation. Therefore the aim of this project is to through a new design of planning and function to undertake the responsibility that as a window of city to represent the city culture. The urban planning including three axis. The first one start from the parliament house, passing through the Central Station Plaza and commercial street of city center and reach to the most vital area of the north in the South Harbor, named Market Plaza.In the design, this axis is designed as a commercial street continue to east until the two tower besides coast. The beginning of the second axis is the north landmark of South Harbor, a white Church. The front plaza of Church is one of the most bustling place of the city, attracts countless street artists to performance in this stage.the axis across Market Plaza, through the new planned coast area connected with the new building in the south, a multi functional culture center.The third axis follow the water routine links the old Market Plaza to the new tower and culture center. The north culture center which facing church and tower, aims to exhibits the unique culture of Finland to citizens and tourists. The function of it including Finish sauna room,concert hall,specialty restaurant and exhibition hall. All these functions not only can represents the uniqueness of Finish culture, but also create a condition for citizens and tourists to experience Finish culture.In the aspect of space concept, the design of these giant space, connects several functions ,also can be considered as a vertical association of building itself. |
